You can improve your sleep in a smart way

The body does not shut down during the night. Quite the contrary.

Regeneration of the nervous system, muscles, connective tissues and hormonal regulation is taking place. These processes are controlled by the balance between the nervous system, the level of stress hormones, the availability of key minerals and generally "building blocks". And do you know who plays a crucial role in this?

Magnesium!

Magnesium is important in the evening primarily because of its effect on the nervous system. It reduces excessive activation of specific receptors, dampens excitatory transmission and supports the physiological activity of the GABAergic system. It simply calms.

The result is not falling asleep, but an easier transition to rest mode and a deeper, more stable sleep. Magnesium deficiency is associated with higher nocturnal cortisol activity (stress), muscle tension and more frequent awakenings. In addition, some people may experience cramps.

However, not all forms of magnesium are suitable for nighttime use. Inorganic forms or magnesium oxide have low bioavailability. On the other hand, magnesium in the form of bisglycinate is a chelate bound to glycine - an amino acid with its own calming effect on the central nervous system. This form is well absorbed, does not burden digestion and has a positive effect on nerve and muscle relaxation.

Evening magnesium supplementation makes even more sense in combination with sour cherry extract. This naturally contains a small amount of melatonin, but mainly polyphenols and other bioactive substances that support its endogenous production and improve circadian rhythm. Unlike direct administration of synthetic melatonin, it does not disrupt its own hormonal axis and does not lead to "dullness" of melatonin receptors. Sleep is then deeper and more physiological, not artificially induced.

Taking melatonin directly can be helpful in the short term, but it is not an ideal option for long-term use. Melatonin is a hormone, not a vitamin, and regular external administration of it can lead to morning drowsiness in some people, disruption of its own production, or deterioration of sleep quality in the second half of the night. Supporting natural melatonin production with its precursor is a more stable and gentler way in the long term.

The combination of high-quality magnesium (ideally bisglycinate) and sour cherry extract creates an environment in which the body can switch itself into a regenerative mode. Muscle tension is reduced, stress axis activity decreases, and sleep has a better structure. It is not about sedation, but about supporting physiology.

This is how we thought about it when we created Elyxeer 30.5.
