Evening Biohacking: Red Light on Your iPhone

Evening is one of the most underestimated moments of the day when it comes to energy, regeneration, and the long-term functioning of the body. At Elyxeer 30.5, we have been focusing on how to set up the most effective system for daily performance and quality sleep. And the evening routine is often much more important than most people think.

Sleep is not only affected by what supplements you take in the evening or when you go to bed. Light, stress, nervous system stimulation, and the signals you send to your body during the evening play a huge role. One of the biggest problems today is blue light from phones and screens, which constantly tells the body that it is still daytime.

The result is disrupted melatonin production, poorer sleep onset, lower sleep quality, and gradually weaker regeneration, lower energy during the day, and greater fatigue.

A simple solution is to switch your phone to the red spectrum, which minimally disrupts the body's natural rhythm in the evening. On an iPhone, you can set up red light to turn on or off in a second – by triple-clicking a button.

1) Turn on red light
Open:
Settings → Accessibility → Display & Text Size → Color Filters.
Turn on Color Filters and select "Color Tint".
Set the Hue all the way to the right to make it red, and the Intensity according to how strong an effect you want.
2) Set up 3-click control
Go back to the Accessibility section and scroll down to "Accessibility Shortcut".
Check "Color Filters".
3) Usage
A quick triple-click on the iPhone's side button will turn the red light on or off.

Why it matters
Red light in the evening minimally disrupts the production of melatonin, the hormone responsible for falling asleep and sleep quality. This gives the body the correct signal that night is approaching and it's time to slow down.
Compared to the phone's classic mode or even Night Shift, the red spectrum is significantly gentler on the nervous system. It helps reduce stimulation, calm the mind, and prepare the body for regeneration.

It is a simple but very effective habit that fits perfectly into the broader principle of working with biorhythms – doing the right things at the right time. This is precisely the principle behind the philosophy of Elyxeer 30.5 – respecting the body's natural rhythm, supporting daily activation and evening regeneration separately, and creating a system, not just another "supplement".

Recommendations for an even better effect
For maximum effect, you can combine red light with other adjustments:
  • turn on Night Shift
  • reduce screen brightness to a minimum
  • turn on the "Reduce White Point" function in accessibility settings
  • ideally, limit phone use at least 30–60 minutes before sleep
These steps together significantly reduce evening light exposure and help the body naturally transition into a state of rest, regeneration, and quality sleep.
